What a tech pack is for
A tech pack is the file a factory reads to make your garment without calling you at every seam: what to cut, in what, to which measurements, how to sew it together and how to label it.
It doesn't replace the pattern, it goes with it. The pattern gives the shape of the pieces; the tech pack gives everything else. A factory that gets both can quote and produce without guessing.
What's in the template
- Style sheet — name, reference, season, fabric, colourways, size range and base size.
- Flat sketch — spaces for the front, back and detail views, with measurement callouts.
- Measurement chart — 12 points of measure for a top with how to measure them, sizes XS to XL and the tolerance.
- Bill of materials — fabrics, trims, labels and packaging, with supplier, colour and quantity.
- Construction — the operations in order, the seam type and the stitch density.
- Labelling and packaging — main, size, care and composition labels, hang tag, polybag.
- Revisions — who changed what, and when — so the factory always works from the right version.
